Radon Testing

Radon exposure is the leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and is commonly found in the Central New York region. Radon is an odorless, colorless gas formed by the breakdown of naturally occurring Uranium in the soil, rock, and water that surround our foundations and slabs. It seeps into our homes through cracks and gaps in foundations, wells, and sump pits. Long term exposure to Radon can cause lung cancer due to the release of Alpha particles during the radioactive decay process. Those Alpha particles become attached to dust in air and are inhaled, resulting in cellular damage to airway linings. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) highly recommends installation of radon reduction systems in buildings with levels exceeding 4.0pCi/L
